Monongahela Books: an independent bookstore & publishing company

Longbuilding_narrowMonongahela Books  is an independent bookstore and publishing company located in Morgantown, West Virginia. It is situated (as I like to say) in a 19th-century red-brick building overlooking the Monongahela River in a ghostly dockyard district of town that vanished a good many years ago, making our aging brick & mortar establishment decidedly difficult to ascertain, particularly when the murky mists of time are drifting in off the river.

For those who would rather not mingle with phantoms— who shun those miasmic wharves and gloomy riverbanks thronged by lost souls, take heart!— and be reassured that we can more readily be found on the sunny uplands of the World-wide Web, at MonongahelaBooks.com.

We specialize in books of American history and culture: military history, local history and regionalist literature. Our in-house publications include books on the 18th century frontier, the Civil War, the First World War and the Great Depression, while our literary offerings include titles by Jared Carter, Dana Gioia, BJ Omanson, and the first book-length study of the recently rediscovered poet of the First World War, John Allan Wyeth.

In addition to our own publishing line, we carry an extensive selection of used and new titles on all aspects of American history and culture, in our Used Book Annex.
